Home is where the heart is. Never a truer word spoken. The first ever South London Art Social in Thornton Heath really did exceed expectations. Thornton Heath and South London is thirsty for creative outlets. There is a plethora of creatives wanting to be inspired and network with like minded people. Further more there is a need from the local community for accessible arts. Art that is inclusive of all in our society, easily accessed and full of quality. The South London Art Social definitely ticked all those boxes.  The event was founded by the Living Free Collective & Chris (aka Kish), a local artist and owner of hairdressers, La Zaris. The collaboration came about through a number of mutual connections with the collective. It proved to be a natural and organic process which has planted the seeds for an exciting future in Thornton Heath.

Alongside the Arts Social, Darren from Well Versed also held his bi-monthly spoken word night across the road. People were able to enjoy both nights which were walking distance from one another. Passers-by were welcomed in and many staring from passing buses were curious as to what was happening. A bustling and diverse crowd enjoyed a night of art, music, food, drinks and networking. A call for artists was heard far and wide. Many local creatives turned up to share and network. South London duo TAILR.MDE.LVN performed an intimate set of three songs. All in all, everyone that came, left feeling inspired, left with some art and connected with people that they may have never done so. Strength in unity. An event for the people, by the people. Art for all, free for all.
