12 Best London Street Photographers Instagram Hark1karan

Welcome! This list highlights the best London street photographers via Instagram in 2016. Something a little different from your usual slow shutter speed photos of Big Ben and the London Eye.

The selection of photographers will give you a broader sense of what London really is. How it looks and feels. An insight into everyday London and corners of London that are just as influential as zone 1. You could say this selection of photographers capture what is ignored by mainstream photography. The honesty of the work below is something that will give it longevity. The most exciting aspect of the list is that many of them are still young and yet to capture their best works. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. Enjoy

Nahwand Jaff – @NahwandJaff.Photo

Nahwand has been capturing London for over a year and a half. Raised in South West LDN, he captures the contrasts of many different aspects of London. Currently on a break from the capital and off snapping around the world. Who knows when he will be back. One thing is sure that, you’ll be able to see his work exhibited throughout 2016. Check the boy out! Levels!

Conrad Litchfield – @Dus.ta

Conrad has a consistent eye for capturing Londoners going about their everyday life. You can sense the engagement in a number of the photographs where the person is aware of Conrad taking the photo. If you can capture some sort of intimacy and presence then this will give life to your photography. Look forward to seeing more from this guy in the future. Boom!

Vincent Chapters – @vincentchapters

Vincent is definitely able to capture the soft tones in the roughness of London. Quality control is strong, with a variety of scenes captured around LDN.  The man has a following and it’s clear to see why. A photo-book in the future is definitely on the cards. Respect!

Will Robon-Scott – @willrs

Will has been doing this way before Instagram! I believe he has had two books out (apologies if this is incorrect). His current book is definitely available for purchase, entitled In Dogs We Trust. He’s been capturing London culture and music artists for a while now. Make sure you try dig deeper for his work as it isn’t all on Insta. Fiya!

Alex Sturrock – @alexsturrock

Alex’s work makes you think how did he capture this moment. The proximity of the subject and the invisibility of the photographer make you wonder how. If you ever grew up or live in modern London you’ll instantly recognise the everyday beauty of what he captures.  The contrasts and little details really make the photos stand up and iconic in my opinion. For me his photography is at another level which makes his work unrepeatable. Time, place and subject is everything here. Outstanding!

Niall McDiarmid – @NiallMcDiarmid

I love Niall’s work. I had started something similar before I had come across his work and it gave me real inspiration to continue my own work from a different view point. Beautiful photographs and beautiful subjects. His work isn’t exclusively from London, but the majority of it is. What is special about what he does is the effortless diversity. Without sounding cliche, London is a melting pot and he captures this unconsciously by exploring different people from different areas of London. The relationship between all the subjects and viewers are warm and friendly. There is real trust and honesty in this type of photography. Stunning!

Leo Leigh @leoleigh

Leo’s Insta is like a diary through the eyes of a normal Londoner in everyday places. Capturing the mundane, weird and wonderful aspects of our crazy city. More detailed work over at this website. Salute!

Barka @barka_i

An artist first, this guy really does know how to take photos on the go. A big fan of his puddle and reflection series. His consistent use of blues and greys is better than most. Join his Insta journey and enjoy. Be sure to check out his great artwork as well. Bless family!

Seen In Southall @seeninsouthall

Southall is one of those places you probably won’t have heard of unless your Asian or love authentic Indian food. ‘Someone’ has taken it upon themselves to capture this buzzing and vibrant place full of life in far off West London (zone 4). The photographs give you access into a community full of South Asian influence. Sat-sri-akal!

Nina Manandhar @warriorprintess

Nina is a London born-&-bred photographer with a keen eye for London and it’s subcultures. She’s been capturing and documenting various aspects of the city for a while now. Much of her work is street based and raw, with a great emphasis on the young and youthful. She’s released her solo photo-book entitled Money On My Oyster, and worked on the ever popular What We Wore project. Check out further works on her detailed website. Pow!

Vega @FLVEGA

Vega is a South London photographer capturing the darker and bolder tones of London culture. A combination of street photography, portraits and youthfulness in his work makes it distinctly LDN. Parallel to his photography Vega is a an artist exploring the dark-side of his mind. Both his photographs and paintings are in sync. Hit the boy up for a commission. Strength-to-strength!

Nico @nicobobinus

Nico has been capturing all corners and space of London for many years now. Originally via his Flickr account, naturally  he also migrated to Instagram. The vast majority of his work is capturing spaces, often spaces that have a peaceful silence and presence, as if your the only person there. Even for born and bred Londoners his photographs will throw up some surprises. I believe he has recently (2015) had his début photo exhibition alongside Keysound Recordings. Check out his vast Instagram achieve.  Yes Sir!
