KISAAN: The Farmers’ Protest 2020/21 offers a unique glimpse into the lives of those who participated in the monumental protest at Tikri border, New Delhi, India. Through a powerful collection of photographs, the photobook captures the raw emotions and everyday moments from a 24-hour period during one of the largest protests in human history, which lasted over a year. This movement aimed to challenge three controversial farm laws enacted by the Indian government. The images vividly depict the individuals who stood up in resistance and showcase the incredible organisation behind a sit-in protest that stretched nearly 10 miles.

“I never planned to create this book—it came to me while I was out there because I believe it’s crucial for us to narrate our own stories. By independently documenting historic events like the farmers’ protest, we provide future generations with the opportunity to learn and reflect on what transpired.” The introduction also highlights significant milestones of the year-long movement and emphasizes the vital role played by Punjabis and Sikhs in the morcha (agitation).
