It Stops Today

Strangle me fierce,
Strangle me beautifully,
It doesn’t matter how, they all know it’s the end for me,
The electronic focus of the camera’s lense,
Has captured the grim reaper of the future tense.

Sing me to sleep, I just can’t breathe,
Gasps and swallows through gritted teeth,
Straight to the radio, the laptop and TV,
A cigarette burns an effigy of me.

Demystify the obvious,
I can tell you’re scared,
A shiny police baton –
My life wasn’t spared.
