I will try and keep this short & simple! Back end of last year there was a lot of dark 808 techy acid house tracks big on the dance floor. Most of these emerged as release in the early part of 2012. The sound progressively dropped the whole 808 drum thing and moved heavily towards acid house & techno til the middle of the year.

I guess some people in London hard enough of the dark shit come late spring. I don’t blame them!  This is where shit went housey. All the kids from the sticks, the hipsters & yuppies started listening to garage, 2step & classic house as if it was a revival! Well it wasn’t! It never left the ends.  I’m just saying what I’m hearing & seeing. Well that’s where the sound went. Mainly in the form of Dusky & Julio (who’s been doing it for a while). Nightslug’s definitely kept things interesting with releases from Jam City & Girl Unit. Then you had all the other stuff people in Rough Trade get happy about like Kowton, Daphni & Four Tet!

Grime! Grime has been running tings! Sadly I couldn’t include it into the mix. Allow me I was doing a vinyl mix. Glad to see a lot of the scene united and murking it! ‘London Kings’

Extremely brief & basic words on London electronic music! I was away for most of the year so my mix isn’t really a true sonic experience of London 2012. But it gives you an idea! All bar one artist is from London or the UK! Did I mention this is an only VINYL mix!
